Re: #009 - Tapestry (red noughts and crosses)

A pretty straightforward maze, and quite fun (depite the shades of blue and grey being quite close).

With my counting, I'm assuming that I'm already on the S position, and each move adds one to my count, including the final step of landing on F.

Weirdly, although the shortest path I find though the Tapestry is...

...it's not accepted as the answer. In fact, the 'correct' answer seems to be (confirmed)

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

31

This either means
a.) I should be counting stepping on to (and off of!) the tapestry as steps
b.) I've found a shorter route than the puzzle author
c.) I've messed up

I'm prepared to accept any of these is the case. I wondered if anyone else was similarly confused though.

Thanks. I do plan to report it, I just wondered if other people would correct some erroneous logic (like "ah, I thought that too, but it turns out that if you...").

I guess not though, so I'll be emailing help@perplexcity.com.

Thanks for the pointer.

Re: #009 - Tapestry (red noughts and crosses)

I've just been through the card again, and I still get the confirmed answer. I counted stepping off the S square as one move, and stepping onto the F square as one move each (but not stepping onto the S square or off of the F square).

If you want to, PM me with your solution. I'll compare it to what I have and we can work out where one of us has gone wrong.

Unfortunately though, the official rules state that there is one and only one answer that will be accepted as correct for each card, so they will likely leave the answer as it is, even if you do prove that you have found a quicker way.

Oops. I take it all back.

I somehow consistently did it wrong about 20 times (and so did my wife), but drawing a line and scratching my head a bit, I don't see how I got that. Must have cut a corner somewhere.

Ignore me, and thanks for your patience.
