Hello, everyone! We're starting to enter the "holiday season," and I thought it'd be fun to start an unnofficial puzzle contest to kick it off.

Now that we've entered October, the "Halloween Haywire Puzzle Competition" is ready to go!

The Rules
-Create as many puzzles as you want based on Halloween, October, monsters, candy, ghosts, Tim Burton movies, Mexico's Dia de la Muerta, excessive usage of the color orange, whatever. Just make them as fit the theme however loosely you care to.

-Put a link to the puzzles in this thread for everyone to enjoy!

-Submit your entries before 6 AM on Halloween (October 31st.) Adjust for your time zone (so if you live in the Eastern time zone in the united states, that'd be 1 AM on Halloween)

-Once we have all those entries, the puzzles will be judged over the course of the day by the community via polling.

There ye have it! Our own little Halloween fun. Enjoy!

I'll have to work on this one...

Hmmm... still trying to work out what the first one is. It must be

Spoiler: (highlight to read)

JOLLYsomething

but I can't figure out the second part yet...

Probably just need to let it sink in.

Anyway, good work! Stuff like this will keep us all going for a few more months! I hope

I'm selling off my card collection, including Riemann and Season 1 Wave 4 Silvers and more. Check it out!

You're on the right track. It's possible that's a region-specific candy, I know that candy brands can be completely unheard of outside of certain countries, regions, provinces, states, and even cities.

Three nice ones.

And convenient, too, since you both required me to be in a "calendar" mindset.

Um...there's no limit to how many puzzles you can submit. However, let's put up some limits for contest winnings by saying that you can only nominate three of your own puzzles for a reward.

And let's make it interesting by saying that there are multiple Rewards if we get much more interest before October 30th. Rewards such as...

-Scariest Puzzle
-Hardest Puzzle
-Most Fun Puzzle
-Most Interesting Puzzle
-Most Creative Puzzle
-Best Puzzle

I'm not sure if we'll get enough entries to justify that many categories, but it helps to be prepared.

So to answer your question: submit as many puzzles as you like. But you can only nominate three of your puzzles for any given cateogry (but that doesn't stop someone else from nominating one of your puzzles .)

...is that needlessly complicated?

-EDIT-

Yes, yes I've decided that it is. Just submit however many you want. We'll work out the messy details later (but I *do* think we'll have multiple categories of awards.)

Thought I'd have a go.

http://www.welovepuzzles.com/permalink/puzzle/8642/

Sorry about the text being bunched up instead of in lists as intended.

Here's the question again as it was supposed to look.

Can you match each film with its director?

1. Halloween
2. Halloween II
3. Halloween III: Season of the witch
4. Halloween 4 : The return of Michael Myers
5. Halloween 5
6. Halloween 6: The curse of Michael Myers
7. Halloween 7 : H20 : 20 years later
8. Halloween 8 : Resurrection
9. Halloween 9

A. Dwight H. Little
B. Steve Miner
C. John Carpenter
D. Rob Zombie
E. Joe Chappelle
F. Rick Rosenthal
G. Domonique Othenin Girard
H. Tommy Lee Wallace

Sory again and I hope that's cleared things up.

Cheers
